Weighted Outer Thigh Leg Lifts
The Weighted Outer Thigh Leg Lift adds resistance to the classic side-lying leg lift, increasing the challenge to the outer thigh and hip abductors.
1 / 9
Step-by-step instructions
- 1
Lie on your side on the floor with your body in a straight line. You may use ankle weights or hold a dumbbell on your top thigh for resistance.
- 2
Rest your head on your bottom arm or prop yourself up on your elbow.
- 3
Keep your core tight and your hips stacked.
- 4
Slowly lift your top leg toward the ceiling, keeping your foot flexed and your toes pointing forward.
- 5
Pause at the top, then slowly lower your leg back to the starting position without letting it rest on the bottom leg.
- 6
Complete all repetitions on one side, then switch.
Notes
Avoid rolling your hips backward as you lift — keep them stacked directly on top of each other. The movement should be slow and controlled.
