Step-by-step instructions

  1. 1

Stand tall on your left foot with a slight bend in your knee. You may hold onto a wall or chair for balance.

  2. 2

Keeping your core tight and your hips square, extend your right leg behind you and slightly out to the side.

  3. 3

Point your right toe downward toward the floor.

  4. 4

Drive your right hip forward slightly as you squeeze your right glute.

  5. 5

Hold briefly, then return to the starting position.

  6. 6

Complete all repetitions on the right side, then switch to the left.

Notes

Keep your standing leg slightly bent and your core engaged throughout. Avoid leaning your upper body forward — stay as upright as possible.
