Full Push Up [Dumbbells]

A full push-up performed with hands gripping dumbbells on the floor. The elevated hand position increases range of motion and the neutral grip reduces wrist strain.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. 1

Place two dumbbells on the floor shoulder-width apart. Grip the handles and start in a high plank position with your body forming a straight line.

  2. 2

Keep your core tight and elbows at roughly 45 degrees from your body.

  3. 3

Lower your chest toward the floor — the dumbbells allow you to go slightly deeper than a flat-palm push-up.

  4. 4

Press back up to the starting position.

  5. 5

    Repeat.

Notes

Make sure the dumbbells are stable on the floor before beginning. The neutral grip [palms facing each other] is easier on the wrists and shoulders for many people.
